Author's Note: This chapter addresses the case law concerning the first-party and third-party liability of those who furnish, sell or allow alcohol beverages to be consumed on their premises, i.e., traditional dram shop cases, social host liability, and the liability of alcohol manufacturers. It does not address liability of sellers of alcohol for criminal acts of patrons occurring on the premises. The latter subject is addressed in 62.5.
