Laura Bishop Baker is an experienced litigator who practices in the areas of personal injury and family law.

In Laura’s personal injury practice, she represents people who have been seriously injured as a result of the carelessness of others. She also helps individuals who have been injured on the job. And, of course, she represents families who have suffered the loss of a loved one in a wrongful death accident.

In her family law practice, Laura helps individuals in difficult and sensitive family law matters including divorce, legal separation, alimony/spousal support disputes, child custody and visitation disputes and various other issues involving marriage and children.

Laura's reputation and experience have earned her the prestigious AV® Preeminent™ ranking from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded to attorneys through this peer-review system. This indicates a peer ranking at the highest level of professional excellence. Laura also was recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Stars, which is a prestigious accolade for the top up-and-coming attorneys in Tennessee for 2012. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor.

In addition to her law practice, Laura is very active in many legal organizations.  She current serves as the President-Elect of the Lawyers’ Association for Women, Marion Griffin Chapter, and she will take office as the President of the organization in 2014.  Laura has also served this organization in a number of other roles, including most recently as Treasurer for 2012-2013.  Laura is also a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations.  She was selected as a member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law class for 2013, an honor reserved for approximately 30 lawyers across the state each year.  Laura is also an active member of the Harry Phillips American Inn or Court.

Laura also volunteers in the community.  Currently, she serves on the Bowl for Kids’ Sake Committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, through which she co-chairs an annual bowling fundraiser for lawyers and legal professionals.  The 2013 “Lawyers for Littles” event raised over $20,000 to benefit the organization and the children it serves.  In the four years that Laura has organized this event, more than $80,000 has been raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

A native of Nashville, Laura graduated from Rhodes College and the University of Tennessee College of Law.
