While we understand that no one really wants to go to court, if we must file suit to protect your rights, Jefferson County is located in the 4th Judicial District of Tennessee. The 4th Judicial District has four Circuit Court Judges:

Very few tort cases (claims for personal injury or wrongful death) are filed in Jefferson County and even fewer go to trial. For reporting year 2011-2012, 51 tort cases were filed in Jefferson County but not a single case went to trial. For 2012-2013, 58 tort cases were filed in Jefferson County and 2 tort cases went to trial. Of those two trials, the injured party only won one of them and the award was $79,402.00. For 2013-2014, 46 tort cases were filed in Jefferson County but none went to trial. In 2014-2015, 49 tort cases were filed, but none were tried. During, 2015-2016, 80 tort cases were filed and 2 went to trial (one jury and one non-jury), but the injury victim lost both those trials. For 2016-2017, 58 tort cases were filed and one was tried (non-jury), and the injury victim lost that trial. For 2017-2018, there were 71 tort cases filed but zero trials. Finally, in 2018-2019, there were 70 tort cases filed and again none went to trial. In summary, for almost a decade, there has only been one verdict for an injury victim in Jefferson County and it was for $79,402.00. The last year referenced for this data is the 2018-2019 reporting period.
