At the Law Offices of John Day, we handle cases in every county in the State -- from Memphis to Johnson City -- but we are proud to call Brentwood our home base. If you live in Brentwood and have been the victim of an accident somewhere else in Tennessee or if you have been injured in Brentwood, our award-winning lawyers are here to help you.

We understand the physical, emotional and financial burdens caused by injury accidents and wrongful death. And for decades, our experienced injury attorneys have helped accident victims recover the compensation they deserve.

Types of Cases We Handle in Williamson County

If you or a loved one has been injured due to someone's carelessness, contact one of the injury attorneys at The Law Offices of John Day, P.C.  We handle every type of injury case imaginable including golf cart accidents, carbon-monoxide poisoning cases, nursing home abuse and neglect cases, drowning and near-drowning accidents, automobile accidents, food poisoning cases, food allergy cases, jet ski accidents, sexual abuse cases, summer camp accidents, boating accidents, liquor liability cases, dog bite cases, bicycle accidents, trucking accidents, bus accidents, motorcycle wrecks, medical malpractice cases, birth injury cases, slip and fall accidents, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, cases involving defective products and many more.

We Will Figure Out Who is to Blame For Your Injury Accident

Oftentimes, when our clients come to us, they do not know who is to blame for an accident or medical mishap -- for instance, when a young, healthy person dies during a routine operation. They simply know something went wrong and a tragedy has resulted. Our experienced injury attorneys are relentless in their investigation of the case. Having handled thousands of injury cases, we know how to gather and make sense of all the relevant evidence. To ensure we can fully address the medical issues and questions in your case, we employ a nurse full-time. And, we routinely work with highly-qualified experts who can help prove your case. For more detailed information about the work we do after you hire us, click here.

Will I Have to Go to Court?

We understand no one really wants to go to court. So, we make every effort to resolve your case without a trial. But sometimes, the at-fault party or the insurance company denies liability or refuses to pay the true value of the case by denying the severity of the injury or your losses. In those situations, our talented injury attorneys will not hesitate to go to court to protect your rights.

Williamson County Judges and Court Information

If we must file suit on your behalf, Brentwood and Williamson County are part of the 21st Judicial District, and the judges "ride the circuit," which means they divide their time hearing cases in the four counties comprising the district. Because Williamson County has the largest population of the four counties, the judges spend a significant portion of their time in the county seat of Franklin.

The following individuals hear cases in the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court:

The 21st Judicial District has Local Rules of Court that can be found here. These rules govern various topics such as motion dates, setting cases for trial, pretrial procedure, etc.

Like many places in Tennessee, there are relatively few personal injury, wrongful death and other types of tort cases tried in Williamson County. Below is information on the tort cases tried in the 21st Judicial District:

For the 2010-2011 reporting period, there were 261 tort cases (a claim for wrongful death or personal injury) filed in Williamson County but only 5 tort cases went to trial. The injured party only won 2 of those 5 trials, and the average award was $28,931.00. In the following year, 246 tort cases were filed in Williamson County. However, there was not a single tort case tried. For 2012-2013, 235 tort cases were filed in Williamson County and 8 tort cases were tried. The average verdict amount was $45,430.00. In 2013-2014, 237 tort cases were filed and 3 were tried. The injury victim won only one of those three trials and the amount of damages awarded was $22,997.00. In 2014-2015, 255 tort cases were filed in Williamson County and 4 were tried. Of those four, the injury victims won half or two, and the average award was $39,913.00.  For 2015-2016, 261 tort cases were filed, 4 went to trial, and 3 of the injured parties won an average of $41,358.  During the 2016-2017 reporting period, 338 injury or death cases were filed and 2 were tried.  The injury victim prevailed in both those cases and the average verdict for that year was $42,806.  In 2017-2018, 325 tort cases were filed in Williamson County, five were tried and the injury victims won four of those trials.  The average verdict increased to $68,602.  Last year, the number of filings was almost exactly the same as the year prior with 326.  Eight injury or death cases went to trial and the injury victims prevailed in three of those eight trials.  The average award sky-rocketed to $4,199,054 due to a very large jury verdict obtained by our office.  Of the three cases, only one was over $1 million dollars and it was the case we handled for a horribly injured runner who was struck by a car.
