Robertson County Circuit and Chancery Courts have developed Local Rules, which control such things as when motions will be heard by the court, the procedures for issuing a subpoena and the expected attire of people appearing before the court. In Robertson County, for the 2010-2011 reporting period, there were 82 tort cases (claims for personal injury or wrongful death) were filed and 3 went to trial.  Of the 3 cases tried, only one resulted in a verdict for the injured party.  The damages awarded in that case were $25,000.00  For the 2011-2012 reporting period, there were 81 tort cases filed and 2 went to trial.  In both those cases, the injured party won but the average award was just $8,585.00.  In the 2012-2013 reporting period, 91 tort cases were filed in Robertson County and 2 tort cases went to trial. The injured party did not win either case.  In 2013-2014, 62 tort cases were filed and three were tried.  The injured party did not prevail in any of those three trials. In the 2012-2013 reporting period, 73 tort cases were filed but none were tried.  During 2013-2014, 83 tort cases were filed but none of those cases went to trial.  For 2014-2015, 73 injury or death cases were filed but none went to trial.  In 2015-2016, 83 injury or death cases were filed but none went to trial.  During 2016-2017, 92 tort cases were filed and one was tried, but the injury victim lost that trial.  For 2017-2018, 80 injury or death cases were filed and two were tried.  The average verdict for the injury victim was $215,389.  Last year, 127 tort cases were filed, 2 were tried and the injury victims won both of those trials.  However, the average verdict size was just $14,344. The last year referenced for this data is the 2018-2019 reporting period.
